Application:Methyl acetate is used as a fast drying solvent for nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate for paint coatings. It is also used in the manufacture of artificial leather and spices and as an extractant for oils and fats. It's also used to make dyes and medicines. It is used as a standard material for chromatographic analysis and as an organic solvent (cellulose nitrate, oils, resins and lacquers), and is also used in the synthesis of lithium chloride and fragrances separated from alkali metal chlorides. GB 2760:1996 specifies methyl acetate as a permissible edible fragrance.
