Nature:Colorless, transparent liquid with a pungent odor that gives off smoke. It is miscible with water, ethanol, ether, etc.

Application:Formic acid is widely used in pesticides, leather, textiles, printing and dyeing, pharmaceuticals, and rubber industries. It can also be used to produce various solvents, plasticizers, rubber coagulants, animal feed additives, and in the synthesis of insulin using novel processes. As a substitute for inorganic acids, formic acid is used in tanning for decolorization, hair removal, neutralizing lime, and preventing mold growth on wet leather.
