Propylene Carbonate
CAS NO.:108-32-7
MF:C4H6O3
MW:102.09
Nature:A colorless, odorless, flammable liquid. Miscible with ether, acetone, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, etc., and soluble in water and carbon tetrachloride.
Application:As a polar solvent, propylene carbonate is used as a plasticizer, spinning solvent, and dispersant for water-soluble dyes and plastics. It can also be used as an oily solvent and an extractant for olefins and aromatics. As an electrolyte in batteries, propylene carbonate can withstand harsh light, heat, and chemical changes. It also has applications in geological mineral processing and analytical chemistry. Furthermore, propylene carbonate can replace phenolic resins as a wood adhesive and is used in the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate.
