Nature:A colorless, flammable liquid with a moderate ether odor. Soluble in 20 times its volume of water, and soluble in most organic solvents and mineral oils.

Application:It is mainly used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, spray paint, quick-drying paint, varnish, enamel, and paint remover. It can also be used as a fiber wetting agent, pesticide dispersant, resin plasticizer, and organic synthesis intermediate. It is a reagent for determining iron and molybdenum. It is an auxiliary solvent for improving emulsification properties and dissolving mineral oil in soap solution. It is used as a solvent for coatings, printing inks, stamp pad inks, oils, resins, etc.; a metal detergent, lubricant remover, automotive engine detergent, dry cleaning solvent, epoxy resin solvent, and pharmaceutical extractant; and as a stabilizer for latex paints, an evaporation inhibitor for aircraft coatings, and for surface finishing of high-temperature baked enamels.
