Butyl Acrylate
CAS NO.:141-32-2
MF:C7H12O2
MW:128.17
Nature:Colorless liquid. Soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, and acetone. Almost insoluble in water.
Application:Industrially, butyl acrylate is produced by the direct esterification of acrylic acid and butanol under sulfuric acid catalysis. It is a monomer used in the synthesis of acrylate resins, primarily for the preparation of coatings, adhesives, resins, and acrylic rubbers. Butyl acrylate is a soft monomer that can be copolymerized with various hard monomers such as methyl methacrylate, styrene, acrylonitrile, and vinyl acetate, as well as functional monomers such as hydroxyethyl (propyl) acrylate, hydroxyethyl (propyl) methacrylate, glycidyl ester, and acrylamide, to create acrylate resins with different properties.
