CAS NO.:110-63-4
MF:C4H10O2
MW:90.12
Nature:A colorless, oily liquid. Miscible with water. Soluble in methanol, ethanol, and acetone; slightly soluble in ether.
Application:It is used as a chain extender and polyester raw material in the production of polyurethane elastomers and flexible polyurethane foams. Esters derived from 1,4-butanediol are excellent plasticizers for cellulose, polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylates, and polyesters. It possesses good hygroscopic softening properties and can be used as a gelatin softener and absorbent, as well as a treatment agent for cellophane and other unused paper. It can also be used to prepare N-methylpyrrolidone, N-vinylpyrrolidone, and other pyrrolidone derivatives, and is also used in the preparation of vitamin B6, pesticides, herbicides, and as a solvent, plasticizer, lubricant, humectant, softener, adhesive, and brightener in various processes, as well as in the electroplating industry.
