Nature:A colorless, volatile liquid. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, and readily soluble in organic solvents such as ether, chloroform, and ketones.

Application:It is commonly used in the rubber, food, pharmaceutical, perfume, shoemaking, tape, ball making, grinding, leather, textile, furniture, and paint industries, as a diluent, cleaning solvent, or adhesive. It can also be used as a solvent in the extraction of seed oils (such as soybean oil, cottonseed oil, linseed oil, peanut oil, and safflower oil); and as a raw material for manufacturing polymers such as polypropylene and polyethylene.
